Document handling will be noticeably enhanced, more productive and easier to execute, even for the first-time user.<\/p>\n<p>In preparation for the Request for Proposals (RFP), Business Services conducted focus groups with faculty and staff from various University departments. Considerable student input was gathered about pay-for-print, scanning and document services through questions posed in the Atkins Library annual student survey. Conclusions from that groundwork informed the RFP. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Headshot of Rick Torres, reprographics program manager\" data-src=\"https:\/\/aux.charlotte.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/167\/2023\/04\/RickTorresCropped_0.jpg\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\">\u201cRicoh had the best overall bid based on pricing, their ability to meet our service requirements and their willingness to provide most of the \u2018wish list\u2019 items that students and departments want,\u201d said Rick Torres, Reprographics program manager.<\/p>\n<h4>Changes to expect with the new contract include:<\/h4>\n<p><strong>REPROS Document Center upgrades<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>State-of-the-art, high-speed reprographic equipment -\u201cWhen people come to REPROS, they will see this new large machine that\u2019s really impressive,\u201d said Torres. \u201cIt can do a lot of the things that we couldn\u2019t do before, very quickly.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Expanded wide format printing,including direct-to-foam core posters and additional substrate choices.<\/li>\n<li>Competitive tiered pricing for volume orders. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Digital storefront-<\/strong> Order print services, upload documents and purchase copier supplies \u2013 all online in one place. <\/li>\n<li><strong>New copiers and multifunction devices in departments<\/strong> \u2013 Updated machines are already being installed in departments participating in the RICOH program. Areas with other-branded equipment bought or leased outside of the program may see this as a good time to move to the program and purchase or lease a new, competitively-priced device. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Student-facing printers <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Easier use! No more release stations; everything is embedded on the copier or multifunction device. Just tap the 49er ID card at the machine.<\/li>\n<li>New mobile print solution uses ID card technology to authenticate instead of release codes. (Currently in the testing phase).
