The plan captures the most important initiatives and priorities for individual units and programs, within the context of the University&#8217;s overarching goals and values and current institutional, demographic, fiscal, and political conditions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cws.charlotte.edu\/backup-chancellor\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1217\/2024\/03\/Institutional-Plan-2016.pdf\">Institutional Plan 2016-2021<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cws.charlotte.edu\/backup-chancellor\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1217\/2024\/03\/Institutional-Plan-2011-16.pdf\">Institutional Plan 2011-2016<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>UNC Charlotte&#8217;s physical growth in recent years has been phenomenal: a long-awaited <a href=\"https:\/\/facilities.charlotte.edu\/construction\/science-building-2\">science building<\/a> with modern labs and teaching spaces to inspire our students and faculty; our new Gage Undergraduate Admissions Center (photo below) located near the main entrance to welcome prospective students and visitors to campus; a spectacular <a href=\"https:\/\/urec.charlotte.edu\/\">University Recreation Center<\/a> with an indoor track, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, flexible courts and studio spaces, and an array of state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment; and the new UNC Charlotte <a href=\"https:\/\/inside.charlotte.edu\/newsletter-stories\/location-location-location\">Marriott Hotel and Conference Center <\/a>located between the PORTAL building and the J.W. Clay Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>UNC Charlotte&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/masterplan.charlotte.edu\/\">2010 Master Plan<\/a> presented a cohesive, people-oriented campus committed to sustainability, efficiency, and social interaction. The plan focused on building up the historic campus core of the University with new facilities and improvements that added much-needed density and academic space and gave recognizable character to the heart of the campus. Academic residence &#8220;villages&#8221; supported and promoted student activities and learning communities to enhance campus life. Thoughtful land use planning preserved and celebrated the range of natural landscapes and forested areas on campus to foster a sense of sustainable growth.
