My leadership team is working diligently to evaluate the implications for our campus.\u00a0<br><br>Please understand that there may be a gap in national news coverage and communication from the University. This is to allow us to carefully review all information and fully assess the potential impact for campus.\u00a0<br><br>Here\u2019s what we can share at this time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Immigration&nbsp;Policies:&nbsp;<\/strong>We are closely monitoring developments and evaluating how they may affect our community. As a public university, UNC Charlotte will continue to comply with all applicable federal and state laws, including those that protect student privacy. We remain committed to upholding these protections and ensuring that any enforcement actions follow the proper legal process.  If you encounter anyone claiming to be a federal law enforcement officer: \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please request that they wait while you follow campus protocol. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Call Police and Public Safety at 704-687-8300. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An officer will be dispatched. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The officer will verify the credentials of any agent on campus. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additionally, they will work with the Office of Legal Affairs to validate any presented subpoenas and warrants.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Federal Funding and Research<\/strong>: As of this afternoon, the national news is reporting the previous freeze on federal funding has been rescinded. We are continuing to monitor this situation closely, and the Division of Research will provide additional updates to affected faculty, staff and students.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While policies and directives may evolve, we remain committed to creating a welcoming and safe campus community, ensuring student success, undertaking impactful research and making meaningful contributions to our region and beyond.&nbsp;<br><br>Thank you for your patience and trust during this time.
