There are many organizations at UNC Charlotte, where students can make friends, learn about the professional world, nurture their creativity, and develop leadership skills. Student organizations and collegiate chapters of national associations within the Department of Music include the Collegiate Chapter of the National Association for Music Education, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Sigma Alpha Iota, UNC Charlotte Choirs, the Collegiate Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, and Orchestras at UNC Charlotte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world\u2019s oldest and largest secret national fraternal society in music, founded in 1898. A Fraternity that is dedicated to the advancement of Music in America. This is an organization for individuals who are passionate about music and understand that it has a place in the world today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1903, SAI is an international music fraternity and its members are proud of their strong heritage, supporting the art of music. Queen City Gems is for cultivating the musical competency of the UNC Charlotte student body by (1) upholding the highest standards of music; (2) giving inspiration and encouragement to its members; while (3) adhering to the highest standards of citizenship in school and in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collegiate Chapter of the National Association for Music Education<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Department of Music sponsors Chapter 891 of the Collegiate National Association for Music Education (CNAfME<\/a>), the only professional organization that involves all types of music educators (i.e., general music, band, choir, orchestra). Each year collegiate members attend the annual North Carolina Music Educators Conference (NCMEA<\/a>) in Winston-Salem at a reduced conference price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you need classroom support, have questions about a classroom topic or approach, or have witnessed something in class you\u2019d like to speak about, the instructor<\/strong> is a highly recommended first point of contact. Student Assistance and Support Services<\/strong><\/summary>\n

The Office of Student Affairs: Student Assistance and Support Services<\/a> (SASS) assists, supports, and advocates for students experiencing a broad range of issues, concerns, or challenges interfering with a student\u2019s ability to be successful academically or personally. This includes absence verification, basic needs, emergency housing, food insecurity, student complaints, student emergency fund, tuition, housing and dining appeals, withdrawal, and incomplete grade requests.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Office of Civil Rights & Title IX<\/strong><\/summary>\n

You can report incidents of sexual and interpersonal misconduct, as well as incidents of discrimination and harassment to this office to the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX<\/a>. This office takes active measures to create or restore a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for community members that is free from discrimination, discriminatory harassment, and sexual or interpersonal violence. Title IX reports also connect students with appropriate resources (i.e. SASS, Dean of Students, chair, etc.).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) <\/strong><\/summary>\n

Counseling and Psychological Services<\/a> (CAPS)\u2019s primary goal is to provide comprehensive wellness-related programs and services to students. CAPS offers individual and group counseling, crisis assistance, consultation, referrals, outreach, and online training.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
