Orman"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Society for Research in Music Education Executive Committee (2018-2024), Dr.\u00a0Orman\u00a0is widely recognized as one of the top scholars in the world in the field of music education. From 2012-2018, she served as the United States Commissioner for the International Society for Music Education (ISME) Research Commission and Chaired the Research Commission from 2016-2018 for the 50th anniversary meeting held in Dubai, UAE. In 2024, she co-hosted the 25th anniversary of the Clifford K. Madsen International Symposium on Research in Music Behavior held in Asheville, North Carolina. Recently, Dr. Orman served on a Scientific Research Review Panel for the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She is currently an editorial board member for the <em>International Journal of Music Education<\/em> and a past member of the editorial boards of\u00a0<em>Update: Applications of Research in Music Education<\/em>\u00a0and the\u00a0<em>Journal of Research in Music Education<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Orman is author of the seminal studies in refereed research journals investigating the use of immersive and augmented virtual reality to enhance music teaching and learning. Her research appears in leading peer-reviewed journals including the\u00a0<em>American Journal of Distance Education<\/em>,\u00a0<em>International Journal of Music Education<\/em>, <em>Journal of Band Research<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Journal of Music Teacher Education,\u00a0Journal of Music Therapy, Journal of Research in Music Education<\/em>, and<em>\u00a0Update: Applications of Research in Music Education<\/em>.\u00a0She regularly presents her research at national and international conferences including the National Association for Music Education, the Clifford K. Madsen International Symposium on Research in Music Behavior, and the International Society for Music Education Research Commission Seminar and World Conference.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr.\u00a0Orman served as Interim Associate Dean for Research in the College of Arts + Architecture at UNC Charlotte for the 2023-2024 academic year and is currently Faculty Research Fellow for the Division of Research. Her previous university posts include the Julian R. &amp; Sidney Nicolle Carruth Professor of Music Education at Louisiana State University; Visiting Distinguished Professor of Music Education at UNC Charlotte from 2015 to 2017; and faculty positions at the University of West Alabama and George Mason University.
