Previously he was an Associate Professor at the University of Houston, where he taught architectural structures and design from 1989-1999.&nbsp;Professor Thaddeus earned his Bachelor of Structural Engineering from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon (AUB, 1981) and his Master of Architecture from the University of Houston (UH, 1988).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His research interests focus on the pedagogy of teaching structural concepts and ideas using visual and qualitative methods.&nbsp;In addition, he is interested in exploring structures, materials, and construction methods from the perspective of sustainability and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to teaching structures, architectural design, and sustainable structures at UNC&nbsp;Charlotte, Professor Thaddeus also teaches seminars for the Architect Registration Exam (ARE) all across the USA and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Professor Thaddeus has received several awards for his teaching and service at UNC&nbsp;Charlotte and UH and the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He was named to the AIA College of Fellows in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EXPLORE HIS&nbsp;RECENT WORK<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/chapter\/10.1007%2F978-3-030-71700-1_10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>The Importance of Wood and Timber in Sustainable Buildings:\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>The publication of Azarbayjani and Thaddeus\u00a0is intended to advance the knowledge of Cross Laminated Timber technology. In addition, it will examine trends in mass timber construction in North America from the perspective of carbon footprint, structural performance, fire, and life safety.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cws.charlotte.edu\/backup-coaa\/news\/professor-named-aia-college-fellows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Named to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects:<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>David Thaddeus, Professor of Structures and Architectural Design, has been named to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the AIA\u2019s highest membership honor. Only three percent of AIA members achieve Fellowship (FAIA) status.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cws.charlotte.edu\/backup-coaa\/news\/2021-02-19\/three-soa-students-accepted-ipal-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Three SOA students accepted into the iPAL program:<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0Professor David Thaddeus, FAIA, is director\u00a0of the iPAL\u00a0program at UNCC.\u00a0Three students from the School of Architecture, Sydney Garceau, Alexis Andrikanich, and Tyler DeJong, have been accepted into the iPAL program this semester.\u00a0In 2015, the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards launched the Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL).
