Anna Edwards <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anna Edwards is an NC\u2013based choreographer and teaching artist dedicated to fostering artistry, community, and lifelong engagement with dance. She earned her B.A. in Dance Performance, Choreography, and Theory from University of North Carolina at Charlotte and her M.F.A. in Dance from Hollins University. Committed to continued growth as an educator, Edwards has expanded her teaching methodology through advanced training at the American Dance Festival Professionals Workshop (2022, 2023) and the Lim\u00f3n Teachers Workshop (2023). She also holds certifications in IM=X Pilates and Progressing Ballet Technique, integrating cross-disciplinary practices into her classes to support strength, alignment, and longevity in movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Edwards has served as an adjunct lecturer at Johnson C. Smith University, Winthrop University, Coker University, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she has taught technique, choreography, and theory courses. As a choreographer, Edwards has created and set work on dancers at Gaston Dance Theatre, Coker University, Johnson C. Smith University, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is also the founder and director of City Dance Project (2022\u20132023), a community-based contemporary performance group in Belmont, NC, created to provide adult dancers with meaningful performance opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Edwards is passionate about dance education for all ages and abilities, a commitment reflected in her work with students ages 5 to 90 across community organizations. In 2024, she created an intergenerational dance work funded by the Arts & Science Council, further demonstrating her dedication to inclusive, community-centered artistry.
