A composition by percussion professor Rick Dior will be performed in January by the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. The concert<\/a>, which will take place on January 5, 2019, at London\u2019s Barbican Hall, will also feature music by John Adams and Jean Sibelius.<\/p>\n

Dior\u2019s 12-minute work, Science Fiction<\/em>, pays tribute to science fiction and horror movies of the 20th-century. Originally composed for a 12-piece percussion ensemble, with electronics and video projection, it will be performed in a new orchestrated version. The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, conducted by Kirill Karabits, is comprised of 164 musicians, age 13 -19, from across the United Kingdom.
