{"id":34043,"date":"2017-09-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-09-05T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cws.charlotte.edu\/backup-coaa\/work-reconstructed-by-dance-professor-to-be-performed-at-moma\/"},"modified":"2024-06-03T09:51:28","modified_gmt":"2024-06-03T13:51:28","slug":"work-reconstructed-by-dance-professor-to-be-performed-at-moma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cws.charlotte.edu\/backup-coaa\/news\/work-reconstructed-dance-professor-be-performed-moma\/","title":{"rendered":"Work Reconstructed by Dance Professor to be Performed at MoMA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>The Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company will perform <em>Tracer<\/em>, a 1962 work by Paul Taylor that was reconstructed by Associate Professor of Dance Kim Jones, at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City on Wednesday, September 6. <em>Tracer<\/em> is one of three works to be performed in the program \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.moma.org\/calendar\/events\/3441\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dance Among Friends: Robert Rauschenberg\u2019s collaborations with Trisha Brown, Merce Cunningham, and Paul Taylor<\/a>,\u201d organized in connection the current MoMA exhibition <em>Robert Rauschenberg: Among Friends<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>One of 13 dances that Taylor created with Rauschenberg, <em>Tracer<\/em> is one of seven works by Taylor for which no complete record of the choreography exists. During an extensive research process that culminated in a residency at UNC Charlotte, Jones worked with dancers of the Taylor 2 Dance Company to reconstruct the work, which premiered in Robinson Hall on September 30, 2016. Charlotte artist Jeff Crawford created a kinetic wheel sculpture inspired by Rauschenberg\u2019s original <em>Tracer<\/em> sculpture. <\/p>\n<p>The Taylor 2 Dance Company performed <em>Tracer<\/em> in New York City at the 92<sup>nd<\/sup> Street Y on December 16 and 17, 2016.
