Students in the architectural history class \u201cMuseums: Southeast + Beyond\u201d are working with the Levine Museum of the New South to design and present the exhibition The Legacy of Lynching<\/em>. Coming to Charlotte from the Equal Justice Initiative<\/a> in Montgomery, Alabama, the exhibition will open on April 24 and will be on view through June 17.<\/p>\n

On April 26, 2018, the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) opened The National Memorial for Peace and Justice<\/a>, an effort that was rooted in the EJI\u2019s research into the thousands of racial terror lynchings that took place in the American South between 1877 and 1950. The Legacy of Lynching<\/em> exhibition draws upon that research.<\/p>\n

Taught by Associate Professor of Architectural History Emily Makas and Director of Galleries Adam Justice, the 12 students in the \u201cMuseums\u201d class include 10 undergraduate architecture students, one graduate architecture student, and one graduate public history student.<\/p>\n
