Dr. Elizabeth Sullivan, assistant professor of oboe, performed three works at the Music by Women International Festival, held March 5-7 at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi. Now in its fourth year, the festival includes papers and presentations, lecture-recitals, and concerts all relating to the subject of music composed, taught, and performed by women.<\/p>\n
With Trio Village, which includes flutist Rebecca Johnson and pianist Cara Chowning, Dr. Sullivan performed works by Marilyn Shrude and Madeleine Dring; she and Chowning also performed \u201cRunning Amok\u201d by Victoria Malawey.<\/p>\n
Trio Village will perform the works by Shrude and Dring at the Great Lakes regional conference of the College Music Society (CMS) in April. Prior to that, on March 14, Dr. Sullivan will perform at the CMS Mid-Atlantic regional conference, playing the Second Sonata for Oboe by Harvey Stokes, the conference\u2019s featured composer.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
