Students in the College of Arts + Architecture are among the winners in the Office of Education Abroad Study Abroad Photo Contest. The winning photos and images by other participants are now on view online in the 11th Annual Study Abroad Photo Exhibit<\/a>, presented in a virtual gallery.<\/p>\n

In January the Office of Education Abroad invited students who participated in study abroad programs during the 2019 calendar year to submit photos to the photo contest. Students were eligible to submit to four juried categories: Landscape<\/a>, Portrait<\/a>, Self-Portrait<\/a>, and Defining Moment<\/a>. A non-competing category, Traveling 49ers<\/a>, invited students to submit photos demonstrating their Niner pride while abroad.<\/p>\n

Fifty-five students from across the University submitted more than 160 photographs for consideration. Photographs were judged by a four-member panel, and those with the highest scores are on display. Each category has first, second, and third place winners, as well as pictures receiving honorable mention.<\/p>\n

Among the students receiving recognition are the following from the CoA+A:<\/p>\n

Lea Rose Allbaugh<\/strong>, Department of Dance, who won first place in the Self-Portrait category for her photo, \u201cWhen in Rome\u201d (pictured above).<\/p>\n

Chelsea Giroux<\/strong>, School of Architecture, who won first place in the Portrait category for her photo, \u201cPerspective,\u201d and received an honorable mention in the Landscape category for her photo, \u201cCrystal Clear.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arik Miguel<\/strong>, School of Architecture, whose photograph, \u201cShibuya at Night,\u201d won first place in the Defining Moment category.<\/p>\n

Teresa Lopez<\/strong>, Department of Art & Art History, whose photograph, \u201cRainbow Over the Burren,\u201d won second place in the Defining Moment category. Teresa also received honorable mention in the Portrait category for her photo, \u201cThe Accordion Player and her Pup.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sophia Bullock<\/strong>, School of Architecture, who received an honorable mention in the Defining Moment category for her photo, \u201cA Bubble Collective\u201d; an honorable mention in the Landscape category for the image, \u201c85 mm Kodachrome\u201d; and an honorable mention in the Portrait category for her picture, \u201cIn a Day\u2019s Dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laney Marler<\/strong>, Department of Art & Art History, who received honorable mention in the Defining Moment category for her photo, \u201cThe Galway Street Club\u201d; in the Landscape category for her photo, \u201cThe Cliffs of Moher\u201d; and in the Portrait category for \u201cThis Irishman.\u201d<\/p>\n
