Formerly Professor of Architecture at the University of Oregon, his research and practice focus on how site scale works of architecture can support broader scale ecological processes and the design implications of resilient urban water systems. He has written articles that have appeared in <em>Environmental Philosophy<\/em>, <em>Nature + Culture<\/em>, <em>Journal of Landscape and Urban Planning<\/em>,<em> The Pluralist: Official Journal of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy<\/em>,<em> and Enquiry: The ARCC Journal of Architectural Research. <\/em>Muller is also author of <em>Ecology and the Architectural Imagination<\/em> (Routledge, 2014). As a designer, Muller has worked on projects marrying water infrastructure, architecture, and urban design in Egypt, Tanzania, and the Madeira Islands.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/cws.charlotte.edu\/backup-coaa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/807\/2024\/06\/4.2_al-Khalifa-Section.jpg\" alt=\"water schematic for park in Cairo, Egypt\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1350px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1350\/971;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Muller is a project team member for the design and development <a href=\"https:\/\/atharlina.com\/projects\/khalifa-heritage-and-environmental-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">al Khalifa Heritage and Environment Park<\/a> in Cairo, Egypt. An irrigation system was designed for the park, reusing the groundwater inundating the facing domes of al-Ashraf Khalil and Fatima Khatun. The illustration above shows a water schematic for groundwater interception and treatment. <\/em>Blue Architecture,<em> p. 72.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Blue Architecture<\/em> provides a vision for reversing the scheme of things and a roadmap for buildings to produce ecosystem services,&#8221; wrote University of Pennsylvania professor Frederick R.
