How did you first get interested in theatre?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My love for theatre began at a young age. I grew up performing in Christmas pageants and participating in my local community theatre. In high school, I took chorus and theatre classes, which helped me develop my skills further. I also performed in my school\u2019s yearly musicals, which solidified my passion for theatre and the arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What kind of career do you hope to have?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope to continue performing after I graduate. My goal is to either move to New York to pursue opportunities in theatre or audition for a cruise ship, where I can perform while traveling the world. Both paths would allow me to keep growing as a performer and explore new experiences in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Theatre?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite thing about the College of Arts + Architecture and the theatre department is how kind and connected everyone is. I love how you’re always running into someone you know around campus or between classes and can stop to have a conversation about anything. It really feels like a close-knit community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of the performances the department puts on, I also work in the scene shop in Robinson. This has allowed me to expand my knowledge of theatre beyond just performance, into the more behind-the-scenes areas like scenic construction. I\u2019ve enjoyed learning about the different aspects that contribute to a production’s success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s one thing you have gained from your scholarship?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am a recipient of the Belk Performing Arts Scholarship, a Theatre Scholarship, and the four-year SECU Foundation \u201cPeople Helping People Scholarship\u201d. These awards help to ease the financial burden of tuition and other expenses, allowing me to focus more on my studies and performance opportunities. They also motivate me to excel in my classes and contribute to the theatre department, knowing that my hard work is recognized and supported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love going to see a show in Uptown and spending time with friends: hanging out, sharing laughs, or exploring Charlotte together. I’m also the president of S.T.A.R. (Student Theatre at Robinson), and I\u2019m really excited to bring that back to campus this year!
