{"id":62203,"date":"2024-11-13T15:19:31","date_gmt":"2024-11-13T20:19:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cws.charlotte.edu\/backup-coaa\/?p=62203"},"modified":"2025-04-04T08:40:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T12:40:32","slug":"dance-professor-brings-graham-expertise-to-paris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cws.charlotte.edu\/backup-coaa\/2024\/11\/13\/dance-professor-brings-graham-expertise-to-paris\/","title":{"rendered":"Dance Professor Brings Graham Expertise to Paris"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Associate Professor of Dance <a href=\"https:\/\/cws.charlotte.edu\/backup-coaa\/people\/kim-jones\/\">Kim Jones<\/a> recently returned from Paris, where she taught Graham Technique classes and choreographed a new work for the Graham for Europe organization. Founded in 2017 by Rafael Molina and headquartered in Paris, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grahamforeurope.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Graham for Europe<\/a> seeks to promote and nurture the legacy of American modern dance pioneer Martha Graham throughout Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jones is a former member of the Martha Graham Dance Company (MGDC) and a r\u00e9gisseur for the Martha Graham Resource Center. She first met Molina at a conference when she presented her research on Graham\u2019s lost 1935 solo, <em>Imperial Gesture<\/em>. Jones reimagined <em>Imperial Gesture<\/em> in 2013, and the MGDC subsequently performed it in Charlotte and New York City, adding it to the company repertory.
