How did you first get interested in architecture?<\/strong>
I became interested in architecture at young age; my earliest memories are of my dad taking me and my sisters to home shows like Home-a-rama and the endless drives he would take us on to look at homes in the surrounding areas of Hampton Roads. I also had a front row seat being around the building\/construction process of having two of our homes built. I remember being so enamored seeing these construction drawings and then experiencing these spaces as they were being built. The parallel between drawing an idea or concept and then seeing that idea into fruition left an imprint that I carried with me through the years as I pursued other endeavors before ultimately deciding to dive in and immerse myself into the world of architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What kind of career do you hope to have?<\/strong>
I hope to have a career that will allow me to work on residential projects and community spaces that help nurture, inspire, and promote inclusivity for people that look like me. I believe that both inspiration and change start in our immediate surroundings and in shaping that narrative we can create a better environment for all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your favorite thing about the David R. Ravin School of Architecture?<\/strong>
My favorite thing about the School of Architecture is the sense of community. With that there is an environment of inspiration and not competitiveness that drives the school. Everyone from the students to the faculty are willing to help in whatever you may need. I know that if I am struggling with a concept or design technique I can reach out to my peers or I can go to a professor to get the assistance I need, and that is very comforting to know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?<\/strong>
I am currently Co-President of the USGBC Club, which focuses on eco-conscious design, raising awareness about the positive effects of programs of LEED, and fostering collaboration for sustainable solutions among university students who are passionate about architecture and environmental responsibility. I also participate in both AIAs and NOMAS events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?<\/strong>
When I’m not in class I enjoy cycling, working out, listening to music, and spending time with family\/friends. These things keep me grounded and whole when I’m away from my everyday tasks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
