How did you first get interested in architecture?<\/strong>
My interest in architecture started with a curiosity about where art and technical skill meet. I’ve always been interested in the creativity of art, but also the structure and precision of technical work. Architecture felt like a perfect blend of both. It was something I sort of fell into, but Charlotte’s resources were always at my disposal to help me navigate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What kind of career do you hope to have?<\/strong>
I hope to become a licensed architect who not only designs but also connects with the community, whether that’s through big projects or smaller, local ones. Down the line, I\u2019d love to step into an educator\u2019s role and help guide the next generation of designers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your favorite thing about the David R. Ravin School  of Architecture?<\/strong>
After I started the program, I did not expect to learn as much about the city beyond what I already knew. As I\u2019ve grown each year, my perspective has shifted. I\u2019ve started to see the built environment more like a form of art we interact with every day. My instructors and peers have added to this view by connecting their own thinking and showing how different communities influence the manner in which people view architecture. The UNC Charlotte School of Architecture encourages creative thinking, and with all the tools and media available, it offers a platform for several design perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?<\/strong>
I mentor first-year students to help them adjust to the challenges of creative thinking. I also participate in on-campus events and activities, both design and culture-based. This goes off-campus as part of my ongoing connection to the city over the years.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?<\/strong>
Outside of Storrs, I like to reconnect with my family and explore more of the neighborhoods around Charlotte. I\u2019m always up for trying new places to eat, since food is such a great way for people to come together. Recently, I\u2019ve been exploring more of North Carolina, but I usually travel along the East\/West Coast to other states as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
