How did you first get interested in dance?<\/strong>
I first got interested in the dance program here at UNC Charlotte through the certificate program with Charlotte Ballet. I was at a point in my dance journey where I wanted to continue my training, but I also wanted to pursue a degree.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What kind of career do you hope to have?<\/strong>
I hope after college to have a professional career with a contemporary ballet or modern dance company. Some of my favorite companies as of right now are Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Martha Graham Dance Company and LINES ballet. It would be an honor for me to ever have the opportunity to dance alongside these companies, but who knows where I’ll end up. I have the most experience with the Martha Graham Dance Company as I have performed in the same production as Graham 2 at the Joyce Theater and I am going to their summer intensive for the second time now this summer.

After that, I plan on going to physical therapy school to become a physical therapist for dancers. My motivation \u00a0to be a physical therapist stems from being a dancer my whole life and seeing first hand how important rehabilitation is for dancers specifically. It is also very hard to find physical therapists that are familiar with the dance biomechanics and expectations a dancer’s body needs to achieve after an injury. My hope is to be able to advocate for dancers to get the best treatment that is directly aligned with their training goals.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Dance?<\/strong>
My favorite thing about UNC Charlotte’s dance department is the amazing community it offers. The students and faculty are both so wonderful and supportive. It is a place that truly allows for students to find what style and artistic career they want to achieve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?<\/strong>
When I am not in class, studying, or working I really enjoy moving my body, going to the gym, hiking, etc. I also love to go into the city to thrift and go to the fun events that are offered there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
