Federal sponsors have introduced a new mandatory Research Security Training. It’s designed to safeguard the security of our research activities while preserving academic freedom, scientific inquiry, and both domestic and international collaborations. Topics include Research Security Basics, Disclosures, Managing and Mitigating Risk, and International Collaboration.
All researchers with active DOD, DOE or military grants/contracts or who plan to submit proposals must complete the training by March 31, 2025. We anticipate this training will be adopted by other federal agencies soon. So, if you plan on pursuing any federal funding, we encourage you to complete the training in the spring or early summer to avoid non-submission.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) training modules are available here, through our CITI institutional subscription. They take approximately four (4) hours to complete, which does not have to be continuous. Completion will be recorded by DR’s Office or Research Protections and Integrity (ORPI).
We ask that all researchers prioritize completing this training by the deadline to ensure a smooth experience with your current or future research endeavors. Please be on the lookout for more information and instructions from ORPI.
